\nA gentleman <\/span>dresses
\nappropriately for any occasion, knows instinctively how to treat women, acts
\nhis age and is always fun to be around.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
\nA gentleman follows some established rules. However, author John Bridges<\/a> insists that gentlemanly
\nbehavior is not about do’s and don’t’s; it’s about common sense and courtesy.<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
\nIn Nigeria today, it seems gentlemen do not exist! A typical Naija man no get time for all this points I posted below.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
\nIf you think you are a gentleman, go through these pointers and see:<\/span><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nA gentleman . . .<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n

  • Keeps to the right, whether he is walking on a sidewalk,
    \ndown a hallway or on the stairs. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • does not attempt to walk and send text messages
      \nsimultaneously.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • waits for a woman to initiate a social kiss. If she leans
        \ntoward him, he turns his cheek toward her lips. And when she graces him with a
        \nlight, brushing kiss, he doesn’t dawdle in accepting it.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • doesn’t wipe away a lipstick smudge in the presence of the
          \nwoman who planted it on him. He bears it, even if briefly, as a badge of honor,
          \nwiping it away later with a handkerchief.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
            \n
          • waits until a lady at the table lifts her fork before he
            \ntakes his first bite.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
              \n
            • places his knife and his fork on his plate side by side, as
              \nif they were the hands of a clock set at 5:25, when he’s finished eating.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              • always has an umbrella to share.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                  \n
                • never wears a belt when he is wearing suspenders.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                    \n
                  • leaves the bottom button of his vest undone.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                      \n
                    • never wears a bow-tie with a button-down shirt.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                        \n
                      • owns at least one
                        \npair of black lace-up shoes.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                          \n
                        • usually takes his shirts to the laundry but knows how to
                          \nuse an iron and spray starch.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                          • is careful about what he says in e-mails. He meticulously
                            \nreviews his messages, editing if necessary to make sure recipients will
                            \nunderstand what he’s saying \u2014 and the tone in which he says it.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                              \n
                            • knows how to make a grilled cheese sandwich at 2 a.m. and
                              \nan omelet at 7 a.m.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                                \n
                              • doesn’t flaunt his newest gadgets, no matter how expensive
                                \nor cutting-edge they may be.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                                  \n
                                • never wears the same pair of blue jeans two days in a row.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                                    \n
                                  • puts the liquor away when he wants guests to leave.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                                      \n
                                    • always offers to get up and make the coffee in the morning.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                      • never waits for something better to turn up.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
